Emitters choose to pay $2.5 million

Some New Zealand emitters chose to pay the Government $25 per tonne of emissions rather than use cheap carbon credits to meet their obligations.
Latest government figures show that $2.5 million was paid into the Crown bank account in lieu of the surrender of units for the year to June 20.
