This year will be a challenging one not only for the economy, but for the environment as well, writes Organics Aotearoa New Zealand chairman DEREK BROADMORE.
In New Zealand, the quest for short-term economic gain at the expense of the long-term health of the environment will see pressure to open up sensitive land and seabed for mining, more irrigation for greater dairy production, more nutrient run off to waterways and more pressure to allow genetically modified crops and pastures.
