There is a common misconception in the market that issuance of carbon credits translates to available supply in the market; however, this is not the case.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s recent announcement that it had issued the 10 millionth forestry carbon credit sparked discussion about over-supply (a trend we do not dispute) but all too often issuance statistics are used to inform market supply, a practice that can produce misleading results.
