Britain aims for 100,000 green-collar workers

The British government's Green Deal initiative to upgrade the energy efficiency of homes could employ up to 100,000 people by 2015 and even more in the long-term, Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne said this week.
The government is seeking to create economic growth and jobs in low-carbon technologies and related industries to compensate for losses in other sectors following its recent announcements of billions of pounds of planned spending cuts designed to reduce the budget deficit.
