Carbon neutrality uncompromised by coal supply, Meridian says

Meridian Energy’s carbon-neutral status is not compromised by its ownership of a coal-fired boiler that supplies heat to several Dunedin businesses, the state-owned company says.
Meridian subsidiary Energy for Industry, previously known as Meridian Solutions, supplies coal for steam-heating from a central business district plant, the Dunedin Energy Centre, to the adjacent Dunedin Hospital, as well as the University of Otago, the Cadbury chocolate factory and the NZ Towel Supply.
