Ministry pushes to meet allocations deadline

The Ministry for the Environment says it is making “all reasonable endeavours” to provide businesses with some certainty over who will get free carbon credits before emitters start entering the scheme on July 1.
More than 800 companies have applied for free credits under a clause in the Emissions Trading Scheme designed to help trade-exposed large emitters to adjust to a price on carbon.
