Drought and slump trim our gas emissions

Drought and the economic recession together pushed New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions down in 2008.
Latest figures from the Ministry for the Environment show that emissions dropped 0.1 per cent from 2007 to 2008 – but were still 22.8 per cent higher than 1990 levels, the benchmark used under the Kyoto Protocol.
