Labour’s energy strategy in tatters, Brownlee says

The prospect of power cuts this winter in the context of the 10-year ban on new thermal power stations shows the Government’s energy strategy is in tatters, National Party energy spokesperson Gerry Brownlee told Carbon News last night.
However, he stopped short of saying National opposes the ban, written into the Climate Change (Emissions Trading and Renewable Preference) Bill presently before Parliament’s Finance and Expenditure select committee, but promised a policy statement on it “within a month or two.”
