Companies must take care with carbon-neutral claims

Companies wanting to market themselves as carbon-neutral are being warned not to rely on the emissions trading scheme for their green credentials.
Recent Commerce Commission guidelines on carbon neutrality include the issue of additionality as a requirement for justifying claims about carbon neutrality – raising the prospect of companies effectively having to pay twice to offset emissions on fuel and electricity.
