Maritime chiefs act to cut emissions from ships

The International Maritime Organisation will issue a package of energy efficiency measures for new and existing ships to help to cut the industry’s rising greenhouse gas emissions.
A specialised agency of the United Nations with 168 member governments, the 50-year-old IMO is responsible for safety, environmental concerns, legal matters, technical cooperation, maritime security and the efficiency of shipping world-wide.
