Govt looks to Commission for ways to shore up carbon price

The Government has asked the Climate Change Commission to look at lower auction volumes and an increase in the auction floor price as options to revive the Emissions Trading Scheme, as carbon prices remain weak.
But merely tweaking auction settings for the scheme won’t get to the root of the market's problems, which relate to a lack of confidence in the Government’s commitment to climate action, according to an expert.
