Tiny CER parcel heralds expansive future

A parcel of just 20 gold-standard Certified Emissions Reduction (CER) units offered on auction site Trade Me last night has proven the efficiency of the United Nations International Transaction Log and the Swiss and New Zealand registries for local trader Carbon Market Solutions (CMS) of Hamilton.
Far from the fear of the little parcel being tied up in international bureaucracy for weeks, the overnight transfer of the first CERs to enter the New Zealand Emissions Unit Register (NZEUR) run by the Ministry of Economic Development worked as smoothly as an on-line banking process, according to CMS director Wayne King.
