New Zealand really needs to make a decision soon in regard to the ETS - the price of carbon has doubled since February and our slow inaction means emitters have been unable to take advantage of a very low carbon price, says OMFinancial.
While carbon should correct downwards from here, we need to send signals to our large emitters that they can buy carbon, otherwise the delayed review might mean we end up paying a much higher price than we should be, the broker says.
