Farming groups split on need for ETS

Federated Farmers continued its call for the emissions trading scheme to be scrapped when it appeared before the emission trading scheme review committee yesterday - but not everyone in the agriculture sector agrees.
Meat and Wool NZ, which also presented its joint submission with the Meat Industry Association yesterday, believes that an ETS and not a carbon tax is the best way for New Zealand to meet its Kyoto obligations.
