UK wants to pay Brits to buy electric cars

The British Government has launched a plan to promote ultra-low carbon transport over the next five years, including up to £5000 for people buying their first electric cars.
Central to the strategy is an initiative to help to put electric cars into the reach of ordinary motorists by providing help worth £2000 - £5000 toward buying the first electric and plug in hybrid cars when they hit the showrooms – expected from 2011 onwards.
