NZ scientists warn of Antarctic meltdown

New Zealand scientists have found conclusive evidence that global warming of the scale predicted this century will cause massive melting of the Antarctic ice sheet and potentially catastrophic sea level rises.
In a project begun at the end of 2006 and co-led by GNS Science principal scientist Tim Naish, they have recovered rock samples from a period four million years ago, when CO2 levels and ocean temperatures were close to those expected this century.
