Cabinet ETS decision a “hospital pass” for incoming government

A former head of the International Energy Agency’s climate change unit has described the Cabinet’s rejection of the Climate Change Commission’s recommended changes to ETS settings as a “hospital pass” for the incoming government.
Writing on LinkedIn, Christina Hood said sticking to the current trigger price – of just over $80 - undermined the point of having a cost containment reserve.
