Nelson City Council adopted a Draft Urban Greening Strategy at its final meeting last month, aiming to increase urban planting for its many benefits, which include offsetting emissions and decreasing climate change impacts.
But its success with the newly elected council remains to be seen, with the departing Environment and Climate Committee chair apologising to the community that she had not been able to deliver the significant level of climate action hoped for.
