CLIMATE change will send New Zealand’s iconic marine giants south, further destabilising local marine ecosystems as well as threatening Kaikoura’s tourism industry, according to new research.
The international collaborative study between Massey University, Canterbury University, the University of Zurich, and Flinders University, used a complex modelling approach to project the regional range shift of blue and sperm whales by the year 2100, under different climate change scenarios.
