Parker pooh-poohs 50% power hike report

Self-interest is behind warnings that the Government’s 10-year ban on the construction of thermal power stations will hike power prices 50%, Climate Change Minister David Parker says.
Responding to a University of Canterbury Centre for Advanced Engineering (CAE) report carried by Carbon News last Friday, Parker said that the Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand (PEPANZ) which commissioned it was just trying to sell more gas.
