Carbon defensive as world grapples with recession

A volatile day for carbon, with European prices (EUAs) weaker on the back of a sliding oil market and ongoing recession fears, while CERs were firmer on the back of the DNV suspension and short-covering due to the expiry of the 2008 CER vintage.
DNV – one of the main verifiers for CDM projects - has been suspended by the United Nations due to rule breaches.
