Call for emissions revenue to fund tax cuts

Australia’s Opposition treasury spokesman last night urged the Kevin Rudd Labor Government to devolve the money it raises from carbon credits onto the states so they can eradicate a raft of inefficient taxes.
In this speech to the Sydney Institute, Turnbull said the estimated $7b to $20b from carbon credits should be seen as an opportunity for state-level tax reform, beginning with the elimination of stamp duty on real estate sales.
