Biggest US emissions rise in nine years

The biggest hike in nine years in United States greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation occurred in 2007, a new analysis from the independent Environmental Integrity Project suggests.
Based on data from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the analysis suggests the power sector’s carbon dioxide emissions climbed 2.9% last year, making it the biggest contributor to US pollution. Its emissions have risen 5.9% since 2002 and 11.7% since 1997.
