WELLINGTON: Give us carbon credits for our wetlands

The 85-hectare Raumati peatlands were once part of the Kapiti Coast's Great Swamp.
A SECOND regional authority is calling for non-forestry carbon sequestration such as wetland restoration to earn carbon credits.
The Waikato Regional Council is already looking at using unconventional carbon sinks like mangrove forests and “wet” agriculture to offset the farming region’s emissions.
