Research spending doesn't match priorities - report

By Professor TROY BAISDEN, Waikato University | There’s a serious mismatch between what New Zealand’s Government identifies as the most pressing environmental issues, including climate change and freshwater quality, and the investments in environmental research it actually makes.
A report released yesterday by the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment (PCE) shows New Zealand spends about $500 million on environmental research each year.
