Large slice of Kupe gas could be up for sale

GENESIS Energy – one of the country’s biggest emitters of greenhouse gases – is considering selling its stake in the Kupe oil and gas field, freeing up money it could invest in renewable generation.
The company is not directly linking the move to the Government’s drive to decarbonise the economy, but said in a statement to the sharemarket this morning that it is exploring whether there might be “more strategically aligned capital investment opportunities”.
