Carbon forests 'buying our way out of sin', says Simpson

USING carbon credits to meet New Zealand’s emissions reduction target is like trying to buy your way out of sin, says National’s climate spokesperson Scott Simpson.
“The issue of pine trees and planting massive areas of what is currently productive pastoral land into essentially locked-up pine carbon sinks is a really big one and we do need to address that,” he said today during a Business New Zealand online election discussion on environmental issues, including the planting of carbon forests on farmland.
