Has our 2030 carbon debt just got bigger?

More than a fifth of New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions last year were covered by the fixed-price option, potentially increasing the size of the country’s 2030 carbon liability.
Figures released by the Environmental Protection Authority last night show that 73.83 million tonnes of emissions were reported under the Emissions Trading Scheme last year, up from 72.49mt in 2018.
