Shrinking Brewster mirrors glacier ice losses

SCIENTISTS analysing end-of-summer snowline survey photos say that in three years, 13 million cubic metres of ice – equivalent to the amount of water drunk by New Zealanders over that time - were lost from just one South Island glacier.
And what is happening at the Brewster Glacier, near Wanaka, is just part of the huge ice loss seen in the Southern Alps over four decades, with many smaller glaciers now on a path to extinction.
