Government goes for silence on ETS

THE GOVERNMENT will make no announcements about changes to the Emissions Trading Scheme until after surrender date on May 31.
If passed, the Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading Reform) Amendment Bill will, among other things, put a cap on the country’s total emissions, lift the maximum carbon price to $50 over time, introduce a price floor, change the way carbon stored in trees is accounted for and make the agricultural sector financially liable for its emissions.
