EDS puts future tourism in the slow lane

THE COVID-19 pandemic gives New Zealand a chance to switch to “slow” tourism that doesn’t threaten the country’s fragile landscapes, the Environmental Defence Society says.
With the borders shut to all but New Zealanders returning home, international tourism – worth more than $17 billion a year or $47 million a day – has disappeared.
