Carbon prices suffer as global economy sweats

THE GLOBAL economic downturn brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic is hitting carbon prices.
In Europe, prices have almost halved to €18 and an auction has been cancelled due to lack of interest. In California, prices are at their lowest level in more than three years, falling to $16 overnight.
