MINING should be allowed only when it is necessary for obtaining the basic necessities of life, says a group of eminent scientists and other New Zealanders.
The Government is currently reviewing the Crown Minerals Act, but the Wise Response Society says its plans are at odds with scientific reality and ignore the need for huge economic transformation.
