Wise group slams 'bizarre' RMA emissions rule

PARLIAMENT is being urged to change the “bizarre and dangerous” law banning local councils from considering greenhouse gas emissions when granting planning consents.
A 2004 amendment to the Resource Management Act - extended to the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf Act in 2012 - specifically excludes emissions and climate impacts from the being taken into account.
