Future vision … the chance was lost
NEW ZEALAND had the opportunity a decade ago to adopt the type of agricultural emissions pricing regime for which farmers are now fighting.
Instead, the Emissions Trading Scheme was watered down to the point it became ineffectual. Our emissions have grown and the job of bringing them down in line with “safe” levels is now Herculean compared to the task we faced back then.
