Big Hydro might sidestep new water rules

BECAUSE of climate change, the country’s six largest hydro power schemes should be exempt from rules requiring minimum water levels in rivers, the Government says.
Ensuring waterways are healthy enough to sustain life is at the heart of the Government’s overhaul of the country’s water management system, and that means making sure that water levels in streams and lakes don’t get too low.
