Maori could have environment case, says expert

MAORI could legitimately take the Crown to the Waitangi Tribunal if councils around the country don’t work with them on climate change, a leading environmental law expert says.
Victoria University law lecturer Catherine Iorns says the Rena case, in which the Waitangi Tribunal found the Government had failed to properly consider affected iwi when it agreed to allow part of the wrecked ship to remain on Astrolabe Reef, is an example of things to come.
