Why we can't ignore imported carbon emissions

GREENHOUSE gases released in the production of imported goods used by New Zealanders are coming under the spotlight.
International figures show that there is more carbon dioxide embedded in the goods we import than in those we export – which means that while New Zealanders are consuming the goods, people in other countries are being held responsible for the emissions associated with them.
