Courts likely to step in, says public law expert

THE COURTS are likely to step in on climate change if central government fails to, a legal expert says.
In an opinion commissioned by Local Government New Zealand, public law expert Jack Hodder QC says that while New Zealand might not have the same tradition as the US of “creative” judgments, it doesn’t mean our courts are afraid to interpret law and defend the vulnerable from harm.
