Councils might have to consider emissions

COUNCILS considering proposals under the Resource Management Act might soon have to take greenhouse gas emissions into account.
The act currently bans local authorities from considering climate change mitigation issues as carbon pricing under the Emissions Trading Scheme is expected to discourage emissions-intensive developments.
