Farmers must pay for emissions, say foresters

THE GOVERNMENT'S latest attempts to make the Emissions Trading Scheme attractive for forestry won’t work if farmers don’t have to pay for their emissions, say foresters.
Officials expect the proposed changes to scheme’s forestry rules to lead to the planting of 102 million trees in new forests by 2030, boosting the country’s carbon sequestration to help to meet emissions reduction goals under the Paris Agreement.
