New Zealand is calling for tougher rules around carbon credits and investments, saying that governments should be required to monitor and enforce minimum requirements for clean development mechanisms.
In a speech just delivered to a conference 200 business people, academics and diplomats at Victoria University, Climate Change Minister David Parker said that action was needed to make sure that the investment encouraged by carbon credits went to the most crucial low-carbon technologies.
