PACIFIC PEOPLE have a right to keep their maritime zones – even if their islands are gone, New Zealand has told the United Nations.
“As climate change causes sea-levels to rise, coastal states face the risk of shrinking maritime zones as their baselines move inward,” Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told the opening of the UN’s climate week in New York overnight.
