GROUND-BREAKING research suggesting New Zealand’s native forests store more carbon than believed is being stepped up as the country pushes to carbon neutrality.
The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research is being given millions of dollars to set up more monitoring stations after a pilot study indicated that land biosphere could be storing about 50 per cent more carbon than officially estimated.
