Heavy hitters bank more from free carbon credits

The phasing out of the one-for-two carbon subsidy saw a big jump in the number of free carbon credits given to heavy industries last year.
Figures from the Environmental Protection Authority show that 5.6 million free credits were given to trade-exposed heavy emitters in the 2017 emissions year – 1.3 million more than in the previous year.
