We could switch millions of hectares, say officials

Two million hectares of New Zealand farmland could be switched from meat and dairy to more environmentally friendly horticulture, officials say.
The advice, from the Ministry of Primary Industries and the Crown Research Institute Crop & Food, comes as scientists say that cutting meat and dairy products out of diets is the biggest way for humans to reduce their environmental impact on the plant.
