Carbon prices volatile on busy market

Carbon prices were extremely volatile today due to a number of factors and there was divergence between European pricing and the secondary CER market, reports broker OM Financial.
Initially, the steep losses in German power prices (and coal) sparked a sharp sell-off in the European price which was halted by a firm oil market after a further reduction in inventories. The CER price firmed right across the curve though much steeper in the back vintages.
