CLIMATE CHANGE will mean more extreme El Niño summers – the weather pattern that causes droughts in the east of New Zealand and storms in the west.
New research published in Nature Climate Change today says that the extreme El Niño events will occur twice as often as they did before the Industrial Revolution, and will continue even if global warming is held at 1.5deg.
