Mayors demand English acts on climate change

NEW ZEALAND’s mayors want a national emissions reduction plan and a stocktake of the likely cost to the country of climate change – something Prime Minister Bill English has steadfastly rejected.
The 2017 Local Government Leaders Climate Change Declaration, released at the weekend, has been signed by 37 of the country’s civic leaders, including the mayors of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Hamilton.
