NEW ZEALAND should hedge its international carbon risk by buying European carbon units, a broker says.
Nigel Brunel, who heads OMFinancial’s financial markets and brokered the first domestic carbon deal in New Zealand, says that that buying up to $400 million in European credits now could save the country a lot of money in the future.
